Fourth of July Weekend :)

Oh, we just had a spectacular weekend. The perfect New England weekend really. We moved to New England when we got married 2 1/2 years ago, and now it is really growing on me.  Rhode Island is just so beautiful. On Saturday we went to Watch Hill Beach with the kids. I forgot my camera, but found a picture of it online.
It is every bit as pretty as that picture shows, and there were not many people there either. Anthony just ran and ran and ran up and down the beach. He didn't even look back to see if Daddy was keeping up with him!  He also loved going into the water, and watching the boats and the birds. This was Anthony and Luke's first time at the real beach. It was also our first time going to a RI beach! :)

Sunday was a lazy day. We went to church, and the boys slept most of the day.
Monday we went to a park in Jamestown with some friends. 4 couples, with 6 kids. It was such a wonderful, relaxing time.

Anthony spent a majority of our time there throwing rocks into the water. Just goes along with my theory that kids don't need any fancy toys. Just nature!

Sandy belly!!

Baby Luke is chillin out in the shade.

Anthony was fast asleep before we even packed the car up to go home! haha!

You can't tell me that is not beautiful!

We then went home, got cleaned up and went to a fourth of July cookout held by some friends.

Little Luke being very patriotic!

Anthony must have eaten about 10 pieces of watermelon!

Our friends Tiff and Kayden, who is 2 weeks older than Luke.

Anthony and Chloe became fast friends

Tired faces mean its time to go home!
No fireworks for us this year, but maybe next year! We will see :)
Hope everyone's holiday was fabulous as well.

Spring is Finally Here!

Finally! I feel like Spring has finally come to stay. My allergies are killing me, and my skin is reacting to sunlight in true Jess fashion. I'm pretty sure I have solar urticaria. WebMD told me so, so it must be legit. Seriously though, I do have all the symptoms and it seems to be getting worse with age. It's kind of awful but the fresh air is so nice, I can't stand to stay inside. I likely am going to have to get some sun protective clothing. If I was worried about being cool before, wearing a long-sleeve swimsuit really will seal my fate as a very, uncool mom. hahaha! Last week was so nice out that we took the whole week off from school and focused on enjoying the weather and preparing for Easter. The homeschooling community likes to say that instead of taking off for snow-days, we take off for sun-days. I do love that flexibility.  Today, we started back up with school again but the boys still spent most of the day outside in the fresh city air, and our day was pre...

I never thought I'd ever...

Me and Ian were talking about how much lives have changed since we had kids. Not only the way we spend our time together as a family, but also our mentalities. For example, I was talking to a friend of mine who either just got a tattoo or was thinking about getting another, or both. I can't remember. Anyway, I have been wanting to get a tattoo, so I asked her how much she thought a small one would cost. She said "oh, not that much! Maybe 60 bucks?" I immediately said "Oh, well that's 3 boxes of diapers, which is too much".  I realized then, that I convert the cost of pretty much everything to the amount of diapers I could get for the same price. haha! I never thought the biggest commodity in my life would be a jumbo box of Target brand diapers, or that this exchange rate would help curb my appetite for things that I want, but don't need to buy. An example would be a Nintendo Wii. I have wanted one for a couple of years now. But it costs like10 boxes ...

Old Beginnings

Well, I fought the urge to create a completely new blog and decided to update this trusty old dumping ground of musings and stories. I am not sure what this will end up being, if anything at all other than a fun website to look back on in a few years, before websites become obsolete altogether. The truth is, I really enjoy hearing the sound of my fingers tapping away at the computer keys. It makes me feel like I am doing something productive, even though I am not.      Here I sit, at 11:40pm on a Tuesday night and I wonder what exactly tomorrow will bring. It's strange to be able to predict with almost complete accuracy the grand scheme of the day, but also not know what quirks lie ahead. For instance today, I knew that the kids would be going outside to play. I did not know that before bed my 4 year old would claim to have broken his leg while outside and beg me to carry him up the stairs to his room (which I did). I did know that we would start a n...
