The newest man in my life...

This post is all about Luke Aaron, the newest little man in my life.

Luke has a few nicknames. He is mostly called "Lukie" or "Lukie-bear", and is very lovingly referred to as "Pukey Lukie" for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who is brave enough to hold him for more than 5 minutes.

Lukie was born right on his due date, which was a good thing because I don't think I would have been able to stand another day of false labor!

These were taken seconds after his birth! I went in to active labor around 3pm and delivered him at 9:59pm (with only 2 pushes!). We were released from the hospital around 2pm the next day! :)

He is now 3 1/2 months old and is a spectacularly easy-going baby. Once he starts losing his cool though, he is almost impossible to calm down. A lot like his mommy in that way. Lukie is already rolling over from his back to his tummy. He is also a real cuddle-bug. Loves to always be held and talked to. He will cry to be talked to, sang to, and played with in general. Mommy is happy to oblige.

Lukie was born with curly dark hair, and it looks like he won't lose it! It also looks as if his previously blue/gray eyes are turning brown like mine! Some people insist they will remain hazel, but I have always imagined him with light brown eyes so I am pretty sure they will turn. Other than that, we aren't completely sure who he looks like, although it is clear he has my little elf ears! Can you tell in this pic?

He spends his days learning how to work his arms, kicking his legs, and smiling at everything and anything. He loves the ceiling fan, and listening to Lacrae (especially his song, "Rebel"). He has not let out a big belly laugh yet, but he squeals with joy whenever the mood strikes him.

Most of all, he loves hanging out with his big brother.

There's not a sweeter sight than this!

Dinner time???

So for once in my life, I was so excited to have a nice dinner ready by the time Ian got home. He told me he would be home at 5pm. I called him at 5:30 and found out he stopped somewhere to pick something up that he was looking for on craigslist. The following conversation happened: "Where are you?"  "Picking up that vcr/dvd player we talked about." "What?!?! WHY!!! DINNER HAS BEEN READY SINCE 5!" "Well, it is 5 mins away from work so I figured it would -make sense to just get it now."  "Ugh , well now dinner is cold"  "You guys can eat without me if you want"  "No. Are you kidding me? I did this for you! We aren't eating without you!" "Ok, so what do you want to do?" "What do you mean 'what do I want to do?' I JUST WANNA BE MAD ABOUT IT!!!" *I laugh because as I yelled that last part, I caught wind of my complete irrationality.*  "hahahaha, ok well you can do that. OR...

We're back!

Well, things have calmed down in a lot of ways, which frees me up to blog. Something I really enjoy doing. There will be another element to this blog, as I figure out how to navigate the exciting and overwhelming world of food allergies.       My oldest is diagnosed with severe food allergies, and now my 8 month old baby is showing signs of the same things. We are managing severe food allergies to eggs, peanuts, tree-nuts, fish and shellfish. I have eliminated milk from my diet and it is helping the baby immensely. I strongly suspect he has a severe allergy to milk.      So our house has been turned upside-down by food allergies yet again. I had grown used to using milk products as a crutch for making sure my boys got enough of their nutrients. It is likely we will have to transition to a milk free home sooner rather than later. I have already cut it from my diet, and must say that I feel pretty good. I do miss cheese and ice...

Anthony's 2 year old check up!

Today was a good day. Tough, because Anthony woke up around 5:30 this morning again, and did not nap today. But he should sleep really well tonight, so I am not worried. It is situations like this that I really appreciate being a stay at home mom.  Our schedule is so  flexible. I cannot imagine the stress of having to wake up at a certain time every day and be out the door no matter how much sleep the kids got the night before, etc. So anyway, today was Anthony's 2 year check up. He weighs in at 28.6lbs, and is 34 inches long. Still a peanut, but following his curve very well. We also got the allergy tests back and it confirmed that he is allergic to eggs, all nuts, and all seafood. Poor kid! Thankfully, we now have an epi-pen, and we were referred to an allergist. I am so glad we are getting all this out in the open, instead of being scared to introduce him to new foods for fear of an allergic reaction. All in all it was a really great appointment. I just love our pediatric...
